Spring Break Vacation

Eric took the whole week of spring break off from work so we could go on a little family vacation. He wasn't able to get some of the days covered till last minute so the planning of the vacation was a bit delayed. So the destination wasn't quite what we were planning (California). We had a great time non the less maybe even better than if we would have made it to California. First we headed to Logan on Saturday so we could hear my nephew Ryan speak in church before he heads to Hungry for his mission. My boys just love Ryan!! Then we went to Salt Lake City for two nights. We stayed at the Sheraton. The boys said they were going to sleep like kings (they each got two pillows). The rooms are newly remodeled and are very nice. The white bed spreads scared me a bit, I wondered if they still would be when we left. I love Priceline, $36 a night you can't beat it! While in SLC we went to the Aquarium and Hoogle Zoo. The boys enjoyed both!
Touching a sting ray.

There were some cool fish! It isn't quite Atlanta's aquarium, but it is still pretty good.

They liked the playground almost as much as the animals at the zoo.

We met Grandma Mary, Grandpa Clark, and Uncle Clint that evening at Olive Garden for dinner, as they were in town to catch their flight to Turkey early the next morning. For any Olive Garden fans we found a new fav. Try their tortellini with braised short ribs, Delish!!

We then traveled down to St. George for some fun in the sun!! We found a condo on VRBO for a pretty decent price. The boys were little fish (with life jackets). It was a nice change to have to worry about sun block. We're talking mid 80's. Soooooo nice!
We went to a dinosaur museum while in St. George. The site only has footprints, no fossils. But they have a special exhibit there till Aug. that has the eggs, and fossils. We took a tour, it was quite interesting. Those of you who subscribe to National Geographic this first picture should look familiar. That was the first thing Hunter said, "Hey that is the picture on my magazine".

Hunter is standing in front of a T-Rex foot print.

Coelophysis bauri skeleton.
Another highlight of the trip for the boys was when we ate dinner at the Brazilian Grill. It is like the Rodizio for those familiar with it. The boys ate and ate till they could eat no more. The servers were quite impressed with their appetites. I don't know if they truly liked the hard boiled quail eggs or if it was just the novelty, but they kept eating them.
On the way back home we stopped at Thanksgiving Point at another dinosaur museum. This one was even better than the first. Amazing how many different dinosaurs they have displayed.
This fish fossil was found in Germany. There were lots of fossils found in Wyoming.
I need a new camera, some of the best photos didn't turn out. Any way we all had a good time. Hunter said "This is the best vacation ever"!!

  2. Hi Cheryl, I found your blog from Cara's. Three boys? Fun. And the coolest thing I just learned about you is that you didn't have to change your last name when you got married. Nice.

Oh and it's Emily Isom, not a crazy stalker lady.

Oh I just had a funny memory...sharing a room with you at Regional Bball or was it Vball? You were a sr. I was a frosh...ha ha. You were so old and cool!
