One of the highlights of scouting- The Pinewood Derby! With Eric being plenty busy I don't think they even started working on the car till the Monday before the derby which was on a Saturday. I was actually surprised that it got finished. (I should never doubt.) Hunter decided he wanted a "pickup" like his dad's. Eric wanted to include Ashton in the fun too. Ashton picked a skateboard for his design. After the official races were over they let anyone who wanted race their cars. Ashton didn't win any races but was excited to even get to race with the big boys! Anyone who knows Hunter knows he is very competitive, so of course he had it in his mind to win. One night when asked to bless the food he asked that he would win the pinewood derby, and forgot to even bless the food. So we had a chat about it. It was explained that his pickup probably wouldn't win due to the aerodynamics. He decided he would be happy with 3rd place. So when he ended up taking 2nd (out of 4) in his age group he was pleased. The anticipation, everyone waiting for it to start.
And the truck takes to the track!
Running to the end of the track to watch the race.
The count down!!!
